The terraced valley of Manarola
The rio Groppo valley, that ends into the sea passing through Manarola, is perhaps the most representative of the terraced vineyard environments of the Cinque Terre. This itinerary runs across the valley, including its goes all around the valley, also including some evocative and lesser known spots, passing by the three centres of Manarola, Groppo and Volastra. It give the real idea of what was the organisation of the terraced vineyards and of how the paths represented a dense net serving all the terraces, with simple, but at the same time magnificent access handiworks. It is an ideal complement to the hikes to the Volastra vineyards. Of course, views over the sea will not lack.
